December 2015 edition of the Probit newsletter

Dear member of the Probit research panel:

The end of of the year draws near! Many interesting things occurred in Canada during the course if 2015, such as the Liberal majority government victory in the federal election, which was covered in depth by us at EKOS Politics.

While we continue to develop and carry out new studies, we would also like to share some of our recent results with you – our panel. As always, be on the lookout for survey invitations in the weeks ahead. Your invaluable input is necessary and deeply appreciated.

Your views on the U.S. presidential election primary campaign

The U.S. presidential election primary campaign has been generating a lot of buzz around the world. In a recent survey with our panel, 10.9 per cent of you answered that you are following the campaign very closely, nearly half (41.9 per cent), answered somewhat, and about a quarter (31.9 per cent) answered not very closely. The remaining 15.3% per cent are not following the campaign at all.

When asked if you would be a supporter of the Democrats or the Republicans, 74.1 per cent of you said you would support the Democrats, while only 19.8 per cent of you said you would support the Republicans. Six per cent of you said you would support neither.

Keeping those numbers in mind, we asked you to choose who you would vote for if you could vote in the U.S. Democratic or Republican Party presidential primary. Hillary Clinton takes the lead with 60 per cent for the Democrats, followed by Bernie Sanders with 35 per cent. Donald Trump is leading for the Republicans with 17 per cent, followed by Jeb Bush with 13 per cent, and both Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina tied with 12 per cent.

Probit: What We Do

The key principle of Probit‘s methodology that distinguishes our panel from others is that the Probit research panel is probability-based. This allows us to accurately project survey data to the total Canadian population versus non-probability opt-in online panels. For more on this subject, please click here.
